Purpose

This Privacy Policy aims to ensure the responsible and secure handling of personal data, fostering a culture of privacy and data protection. It governs the collection, use, storage, and protection of personal data within the institution

Policy

Education Pathways is committed to protecting personal data in accordance with applicable UAE data protection laws and regulations. Personal data will be processed lawfully, fairly, and transparently, and only for specified and legitimate purposes.

The institution, through the nature of its business, sometimes has to deal with personal and/or potentially sensitive data. This data may be from personal or corporate clients, employees or other organizations and may be in the form of personal or contact details, employment and educational histories, and other types of personal data appropriate to the nature of the institution’s business. 

Any personal data collected by the institution will only be passed to a third party where required by law, to comply with a statutory obligation or where the institution has obtained the express written consent of the individual concerned.

In accordance with its duty to comply with the data protection principles, the institution will:

  • Ensure that all data processed is done so fairly and under both the letter and the spirit of the law;
  • Clearly record the specific purposes under which the institution will process data;
  • Ensure that data collected and processed only to the extent that it is needed to fulfill operational needs or to comply with any legal requirements
  • Ensure that data is true and meaningful and regularly updated;
  • Ensure that data is never held for longer than is required;
  • Assessment and internal verification records will be retained for at least five years following certification of the learner
  • Take appropriate physical and electronic safety measures in order to safeguard the data;
  • Never transfer personal information to countries which do not have a similar or equivalent policy or similar safeguarding process for personal data.
As the nature of the institution’s business means that it may, from time to time, process sensitive personal information about an individual. On such occasions, the institution will ensure that it has explicit consent to hold, use and retain such data regarding the individual.  Subsidiaries of Education Pathways Group may share personal data between each other in order to simplify administrative tasks and maintain consistent records throughout the company.

Sharing of Information

Formative and initial assessment results are shared between staff. This is particularly important where it relates to the English language level of students as this impacts on all other aspects of the course.

Student levels of English are discussed at Course Committees as well as all modules with most specific relevance to English language ability.

Data Security

The institution will implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of personal data. This includes protecting against unauthorized or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage.

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to individuals’ rights and freedoms, the institution will promptly notify the relevant supervisory authorities and affected individuals in accordance with applicable local laws and regulations.
