Refund and Compensation
Purpose
Definitions
- Tuition Fees: Fees paid for academic instruction.
- Registration Fee: Fees charged for student registration with awarding bodies, including but not limited to Pearson and NCFE. These fees may cover student registration, certification, and related processing.
- Administrative Fee: Processing and onboarding charges.
- Visa Fees: Costs associated with student visa processing.
- Deposit Payment: Payment to secure a place (part of the tuition fee).
General Principles
- All refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to the admissions or finance department.
- The effective date of withdrawal is the date the written request is received.
- Refunds will be processed only after submission of all required documents.
- EPD reserves the right to deduct any outstanding fees before issuing refunds.
Payment Terms and Enrolment Confirmation
- A minimum payment of 10% of the total tuition fee (or as agreed in the payment plan) is required to officially confirm enrolment in any program at EPD.
- Enrolment will not be considered confirmed until this payment has been received.
Short-Term Programs (Less than 3 Months)
- For programs with a duration of less than 3 months, full payment of all fees must be completed before the commencement of the program.
- Students who fail to complete full payment before the start date may not be permitted to attend classes.
Long-Term Programs (More than 3 Months)
- For programs with a duration of more than 3 months, fees must be paid in accordance with the approved payment plan issued by EPD.

Suspension of access to classes and services Cancellation of enrolment - EPD reserves the right to withdraw an offer or cancel enrolment if payment obligations are not met.
Awarding Body Registration Fees
- Registration fees for awarding bodies (including Pearson and NCFE) are mandatory where applicable and form part of the overall cost of the program.
- These fees will be: Included within the official payment plan, or Communicated separately to students via official EPD email upon enrolment
- Students are responsible for ensuring payment of these fees within the specified deadlines.
- Once registration with the awarding body has been completed, these fees are non-refundable.
Refund Policy Before Course Commencement
If a student withdraws before the course start date:
- Tuition fees paid will be refunded 100% minus applicable administrative and registration fees.
- Visa fees (if already incurred) will be deducted.
Refund Policy After Course Commencement
Refunds after the start of the course will be calculated as follows:
- During induction/orientation week → 75% refund of tuition fees
- Within the first 2 weeks of classes → 50% refund of tuition fees
- After 3 weeks of classes or more → No refund
Note: Registration, administrative, and visa fees remain non-refundable.
Non-Refundable Fees
The following fees are strictly non-refundable:
- Registration fee
- Administrative fee
- Visa processing fees (once the application has been submitted)
- Any third-party charges incurred
Visa-Related Refunds
- Visa Rejection (official proof required):Full refund of tuition fees Less visa processing and administrative charges
- After Visa Application Submission: Visa fees are non-refundable
- After Visa Issuance: No refund of tuition fees The student must complete the visa cancellation procedure
Withdrawal and Notice Period
- Students must provide written notice of withdrawal.
- Failure to notify EPD formally will result in continued liability for fees.
- Refund eligibility is based on the official withdrawal date, not the last attendance.
Non-Attendance / No-Show Policy
- Students who fail to attend classes without a formal written withdrawal notification will not be eligible for any refund.
- Any claims for absence due to medical or exceptional circumstances must be supported by official documentation.
- All supporting documents (including medical certificates, sick leave, or other official records) must be:Issued by a recognised authority Submitted in English or accompanied by a certified English translation
Failure to provide valid documentation in English may result in:
- Rejection of the claim
- No eligibility for refund, compensation, or academic consideration
Submission of documentation does not guarantee approval. All cases are subject to review and approval by EPD.
Outstanding Fees Adjustment
- Any approved refund will be adjusted against: Outstanding tuition fees Penalties or charges due
Special Circumstances
EPD may consider partial or full refunds in exceptional cases, including:
- Medical emergencies (with official documentation)
- Compassionate grounds
- Force majeure events
All such cases will be reviewed individually.
Discounts and Scholarships
- Refunds will be calculated based on the actual amount paid, not the original fee mentioned in the payment plan.
- Students receiving discounts or scholarships may have adjusted refund eligibility.

- Students will receive a full refund of all fees paid, or
- Option to transfer to another course

Refund Processing Timeline
- Approved refunds will be processed within 20–30 business days.
- Refunds will be made via: Bank transfer Original payment method (where possible)
Compliance
This policy aligns with UAE regulatory expectations regarding proportional tuition refunds and institutional transparency.
Late Payment Charges
- Students are required to pay all fees by the specified due dates.
- A late payment charge of 4% may be applied to any outstanding balance not paid by the due date.
- This charge may be applied weekly on overdue amounts until full payment is received.
- Continued non-payment may result in: Suspension of access to classes and services Withholding of academic records or certificates
Late Payment Charges
- A 3% bank/transaction charge may be applied in the following cases: Payment gateway or card transaction fees International transfer charges
- In case of refunds: The 3% charge will be deducted from the refundable amount to cover banking and processing costs.
- EPD is not responsible for any additional charges applied by the student’s bank or intermediary banks.
Policy Amendments
EPD reserves the right to amend this policy at any time. Updated versions will be published on the official website.
